July 26, 2014 started our summer vacation on Topsail Beach.
This was our first time here and we will for sure return. We've been to SC beaches, this was our first NC beach experience. Loved the resort Villa Capriani and would recommend it to anyone! We reserved through VRBO and our unit fit us perfectly. 1 bedroom with a sleeper sofa in the living room for the girls. The full kitchen was great for cooking dinner in, we ate dinner out twice. Our lunches were eaten by the pool or ocean. It was a week of relaxation, lots of sun, water action and just hanging as a family of four.
One day we visited the Sea Turtle Hospital. Great experience! The Loggerhead Sea Turtles come ashore Topsail Beach 3 - 5 times a nesting year. She deposits an average of 120 eggs per nest. Amazing! Since they are endangered, when the volunteers discover a nest, they mark it off. We found a nest near our resort (see picture below). We didn't see any hatching though.
The girls LOVED the ocean, jumping the waves, body surfing and making sand castles. With 3 pools and 2 hot tubs at the resort, there was always something to do. The weather was hot (80's - 90's and sunny).
Tuesday evening we attended the meeting at Jacksonville Kingdom Hall. It was nice meeting our brothers and sisters! Another evening we had dinner in a restaurant at the top of a hotel a few miles away. The view was amazing! We even saw a rainbow! We also had pizza at Max's Pizza. YUM!!
