2014 Snowzilla

We've had two "snowstorms" in the last 2 weeks.  CRAZY!!!  This is North Carolina......this doesn't happen here.  I can handle it for a couple days - it is pretty.  But, then it must melt (which it does).

Sophia is into playing in the snow, making snowmen, sledding.  Abby on the other hand, is very much like me......she doesn't want anything to do with it.  She did play for a bit and then explained how she would much rather be cuddled up inside.  I agree!

January 28, 2014 - only about an inch, maybe 2 of snow.  School was cancelled for 2 days.  It is shocking to us.  They don't have the equipment to clean off the roads.  Plus, the temps were above freezing during the day - melting and then at night would re-freeze.  Black ice was the big concern.

February 12, 2014 - about 6 inches of snow - very rare to ever receive that much snow here.  Glad we kept a shovel!  School is cancelled for 3 days.  We did have a city snowplow come through like 3 times.  By noon today, the snowing stopped.  Temp rose to 43 and much was melting.  Thank goodness!!  Sophia made a really cute snowman - we named him Mr. Flake.  He lasted a few hours and then collapsed from melting.  Fine by me!

Enough of this snow now.....really!

Max LOVES the snow!!!

50th Anniversary Beach House - Day 4 (Last Day)

Monday, January 20th - Day 4 (Last Day)

Before we knew it, the last full day for us all to be together at the beach house had come.  We enjoyed time on the rooftop deck, sun-tanning and chatting it up.  Basketball games happened, as well as 500 games & pool.  Some of us took a long walk on the beach.  Something about hearing the waves, walking through the sand and collecting shells.......very relaxing.  It was in the mid 60's this day and sunny!  Excellent for January!!

Josh made BBQ chicken and I made homemade mashed potatoes (1st time ever.....used cookbook Sophia bought me for our anniversary).  The meal was yummy......our last meal all together.......sniff, sniff.

Tuesday morning we packed up and the tears were rolling from me & Alexis, since her and Colten were leaving for the Charleston airport right from the beach house.  The rest returned to our homes and left Wednesday to return to Minnesota.

Couldn't have been happier with the memories created.  I will always remember this vacation......all of us together!  (Enough sappyness now!)

50th Anniversary Beach House - Day 3

Sunday, January 19th

Sophia & Josh made pancakes for the whole crew!  She loves cooking & baking.  We also had fruit, egg bake (thanks to Keek!), mimosa's and coffee.  YUM!

Some of us went to Charleston for shopping and enjoying the beautiful architecture and historic buildings.  We also had lunch at a cute restaurant.  It was a beautiful day to be outside.
