Back To School Pool Party

Our friends have a great set-up for hosting summer parties.  Last weekend was the Back to School Pool Party and Bonfire.  Perfect weather, lots of kids, yummy food......it was fun!  Great way to end "summer".

1st Day of School 2013 - 2014

Here we are again.....another start to a school year!  This was a big one though......MIDDLE SCHOOL for Sophia!  Hard to believe.....

Sophia's alarm went off and she popped out of bed, excited to start the day.  Abby was a little slower moving (more like me).  They were happy though and ready to get to school.  I'm amazed at how smooth everything went.  Daddy had a later start this morning so he could see the girls before they headed off to school.  Then it was breakfast, getting dressed and off we went.  Dropped off Sophia 1st (the school is .4 miles from our house).  She was beaming as she jumped out of the van.  I'm so proud of her!  Then Abby & I headed to her school and we walked together to her classroom.  She has at least 4 kids in this class that were in her class last year, including her good friend Aspen.  She was quiet, but smiling, found her desk and posed for the camera for me.  And then I headed off, all by myself.  What a wonderful start to the school year!!!!

Wow, what an accomplishment, we are so proud of you two!!!

They've increased their knowledge of accounts from the Bible, improved on their reading skills and finished a goal they set.

Cutting & Reading

Gotta love summer days.......

Sophia really enjoys cutting the grass, actually asking when she can again.  She even wants to cut Pops & Grandma's and has spoken of starting a lawn cutting business.  Go girl!  

Abby has been reading like crazy!  This day she was rocking on the swing and reading Junie B. Jones.  It is so fun to hear her tell me about what is happening in the book.  

One more week and back to school.......they are ready (their own words) and I'm ready.......we've been so busy with activities that we are all ready for some structure & routine.  

Making Dinner

One of Sophia's "jobs" is making dinner one evening a week.  Last week she made spaghetti w/sauce, mixed vegetables and crescent rolls.  It was WONDERFUL!  Meals taste so much better when someone else makes it (I think).  And especially when you know the effort put into it.

Carowinds Fun Again....

A couple weekends ago it was Bring-A-Friend at Carowinds, which means gold pass members can bring a guest for $19.99 (vs $54 or whatever the regular rate is).  Quite a deal!  So, Lynsey, Beth & Brandon joined us for some FUN.  I forgot my good camera, so these are all I got from my phone.  We all had a good time!
