Quick Visit from Keek

Keek was able to come for a quick visit to help after Mom's hip replacement.  There was a cheap flight and she jumped on it.  We loved having her around for a few days and I know she was a help to Mom and Dad.

Family dinners, presents for the girls, digging up our rose bush, playing games and relaxing filled the days.

Until the next time.......

First Snow Day

Friday, January 18th was our first snow day, which means school is cancelled.  It was very hyped up that we were going to get SNOW.  We were actually excited since we haven't seen any since our visit to MN last February.  Initially the day before, the school district called for 3 hour delay.  Then Friday morning they cancelled school.  I was shocked since 1) we never did receive snow and 2) by the time they would have went (11:00am) the frost was gone.  Such a different mentality down here.  I have to remind myself that they don't have the equipment to keep the roads safe when there is ice or snow.  Oh well!  We enjoyed the day with friends at the Science Center since it was Free Friday.  Those pics will be in the next post.

Grandma's Hip Surgery

Wednesday was my Mom's hip replacement surgery.  She has been dealing with constant pain and been unable to walk more than a few steps.  This day has been greatly anticipated!!

Ryan, Melissa & I joined Dad & Mom before the surgery at the hospital.  After kissing her goodbye, we headed to the waiting room and waited, waited, waited.  The surgeon came out and gave us the good news......success!!  After a bit more, we greeted Mom in her room and were so happy to see her feeling good.  What a relief!  Mick and the girls joined us later in the afternoon too.  Of course, now it will be different pain while she is doing physical therapy.  Tomorrow she'll be home & able to sleep without the constant "checking on you" interruptions.

Happy that part is over Mom and can't wait till you are mobile and feeling great!!!

Love ya!

100 Days of School!!!

Today was the 100th day of school!  The Kindergarten teachers planned a PARTY for the kids ~ they were to dress as 100 year old's.  How fun!  We sprayed Abby's hair silver (didn't show up great with her hair being so blonde), found some wire rimmed glasses, borrowed Grandma's cane (and it is adjustable.....BONUS) and wore a shawl that was Sophia's.

I was happy to be able to help in the classroom.  It was really cute to see how the kids dressed up.  I also enjoyed getting to know the children in the classroom and connect the names Abby talks about their faces.  And of course, to hear the funny things they say!

There was candy, prizes, exercises and more!  Way to go Mrs. Surratte & Ms. Magee!!!

Ab all ready to go!

Check this out!!!!!

You have to check out this YouTube video that a customer made, showing JR Flooring, LLC in action. It makes me proud of Josh (and his crew) and how hard they work.  It also shows how much pride they take in the work they do.  Give them a call for all your carpet needs!

Jump Rope for Heart

The girl's school is raising money for heart disease by having hosting Jump Rope for Heart.  Sophia is so excited to participate!  Today was a beautiful day, sunny & 70 degrees.  So she was practicing jump roping and out raising money from a few neighbors.  We also took a bike ride, took Max for a walk and cleaned out the vans - ours and Daddy's work van.  Felt good!!!
